Steven Singer Jewelers - Ring Review from Colleyville, Texas

I purchased a ring set for my wife's birthday in November 2014.The pronges on the ring would not hold some of the diamonds. Needless to say we lost some and this is within a couple of months of purchasing it. We sent in the ring to Steven Singers and all of this time I was under the impression all they do is in house. NOT THE CASE. They buy from a dealer or manufacturer. So they sent to the "Manufacturer for repair and replace. They had the ring for two months. So once again the ring is falling apart which I shipped back to them. Ring has been there 3 plus weeks and still do not have an answer to what their next move is to get this resolved. I don't want that ring back, I would be willing to pick a different solid center stone ring but they say it is twice the price of my $4300.00 purchase . Now I am to the point of just a refund "COMPLETE" Instead of having to deal with this tossing me around.

High pressure sales – high anxiety returns!

First the good; free parking, coke and a cookie. The salesman was patient and very good at explaining what to look for in a diamond. But once I found a setting and stone I liked, I really felt pressured to put a 10% deposit on a stone and setting. It was full court pressure time, and though it was one for the first places I stopped, I was convinced the ring was just what she would love so I did. I won't go it specifics of the tactics, because I did love the ring, but I have felt less pressure buying a used car. That week I found out I will need to shell out for braces for 2 of my teens. I needed to cancel the ring; I was told I needed come in rather than just refunding it right back to the card. Because of the store's early closing I needed to take a half day off from work just to make it down, which wasn't for several weeks. The salesman even emailed me a reminder. Then when I get there, I ask to see some pendants, feeling I should get at least something to make up for my time spent there and my girlfriend has a birthday upcoming. I decided on one that would have been a little more than half the deposit. I figure I could put the other half back towards paying for the braces. I was told I could only get the remainder in store credit not a refund. So I said I would just take the whole refund then. To which I was told there would be a 15% restock fee, so I acquiesced figuring getting 85% of my refund was better than nothing, then the manager came over to inform me the 15% is on the total price, so if I wanted to "return" it I would still owe the other 5%. Explain that to me so it makes sense. She explained that they have been holding the stone for 6 weeks, to which I countered, I told the original sales person less than a week after I put the deposit I wouldn't be getting the ring. I would have thought that would have been sufficient. To quote the very receipt I was given, "We off all of our guests a 30 day full money back guarantee" and "While our goal is to never charge any fees to our guests, any item that has been altered, damaged, or customized maybe subjected to a small fee to return the merchandise to the original condition. This fee will not exceed 15%." I had given notice that I would not be making the purchase well within the 30 days, though I was physically unable to make to the store before the 30 day window closed. I would have been charged a 15% on the total cost restocking fee for a piece that I never had in my possession, therefore could not have subjected it to "alter, damage or customize" it. Completely disgusted and frustrated I told the manager I would just take the store credit, but I never want to buy anything there again (I am even sorry I got one of the dipped roses for Valentine's). The kicker is the "store credit" is on a piece of register tape that is most likely to be lost or ruined rather than on say a gift card or gift certificate that would stand a chance of survival. I should list it on Craig's list to try to recoup my money to put towards the braces. When I do get back to ring shopping, you bet Steven Singer's will not be on my list of stores to visit. Nor should it be on yours, if they don't live up to guarantee the print on their receipts I would hate to see what kind of trouble there would be if there was ever a problem. I am posting this review to any site that I find that accepts reviews for Steven Singer and the only reason I am not posting it on Facebook or MySpace is I don't want to ruin the engagement, so feel free to pass this along for me.

I have to say I love my ring from Steven Singer. I had it appraised and it actually appraised for more than My hubby paid.

I was very concerned about buying from them, especially after reading reviews. I almost returned it, but after having it appraised, insured and loving it, I relaxed. I feel as if I lucked up after reading here, and will to push my luck with the bracelet I have been eying. LOL.

We were not pressured, we spent more than we planned and left with a great big ole smile. Hope we were not suckers!

It's appaent that none of you have ever shopped or bought a fine piece of jewelry. Once you commit to the sale, that effectively removes the piece from the sales floor.

You tied it up when maybe this jeweler could have sold it to someone else. Now you don't want it and he is out a potential sale. Do NOT blame the man. Learn to READ and ASK questions BEFORE you commit to the sale.

You sir were the one that need to pay attention.

I hope you have learned a lesson. Most FINE jewelry practice these return policies.!
